2019 Spring Season Tryout Dates

This year, in an effort to improve upon what we can offer to our players before the start of the season in March, we are taking a page from hockey and soccer and holding tryouts for the A level Red teams at the end of the current season.

For families currently in 4th grade, 5th grade is the first year in which we level the boys and add in non-parent coaches for the A level teams.  As in the past, any player who wants to be assigned to an A level team needs to attend tryouts.  Players who are able should attend both and need to inform the Grade Level Coordinator if they will only be at one.  If a player wants to play on the A level team, the expectation is that LS youth lacrosse is their primary spring sport and priority.  There are no pre-determined spots on any of the A level teams prior to tryouts. Players will be evaluated by the grade coaches on their stick skills, game play, and athleticism.

Teams will be selected based on the evaluations and input from this season’s coaches on attitude, teamwork, sportsmanship, development and performance.

The schedule for the tryouts will be as follows - at regular practice times:

Current 4th grade:  Wed. June 6 and Fri. June 8 at LS

Current 5th grade:  Mon. June 11 and Wed. June 13 at LS

Current 6th grade:  Tues. June 12 and Thurs. June 14 at LS

Current 7th grade:  Mon. June 11 and Wed. June 13 at LS

We ask that parents do not stay at the tryouts.  Please drop your player off 15 minutes early to register and then return at the end for pick-up.  Players will need to bring a numbered reversible with them and make sure they wear the same one both nights.

Teams will be announced in early September.  Registration for the 2019 spring season will open at the end of June and will be completed by August 31. You must be registered by then to receive a team assignment in September.  There will be an opportunity for any new players to be evaluated before the 2019 season begins in March.

We know that this is a significant change but we feel it will benefit the players by allowing us to start team practices sooner and offer some off-season opportunities as well.

Please contact us if you have any questions.
